Cu Chi tunnels are complicated hand-dug tunnels in Vietnam with 250 km of incredible underground networks. It took over 25 years to build from the Viet Minh to Viet Cong generations. The tunnels have 3 different levels and consist of living rooms, kitchens, hospitals, handmade weapon rooms, food storage, and meeting rooms. Travelling to the tunnels by luxury speed boat is a perfect way to explore more than you expect; natural river landscapes, local life on waterways, and historic tunnels without traffic jams.
Can Gio Biosphere Reserve is located in the coastal district southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. The forest is about 75,740 hectares and is occupied by mangrove trees, saltwater, and an extensive river network. The mangrove forests have more than 200 species of fauna and 52 species of flora; monkeys and gibbons, crocodiles, bats, birds, fish and shellfish species etc. The forest hosts the highest diversity of mangrove plant species, mangrove-dwelling invertebrates and mangrove-associated fish and shellfish species in the sub-region and is regarded as the ‘green lungs of the city. Since the mangroves received the tourism development, including the buffer zone of the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve and infrastructures for the areas, the ecotourism of Vam Sat had become one of the most tourist attractions in Southern Vietnam. It is perfect for travelling by speed boat to the forest, experience life on waterways, taking sampan through water palms, mangroves on water channels, and enjoying a walk through the jungle.
Vietnam Backroads offers you original Ben Duoc tunnels further away from Ho Chi Minh City, the original one. Ben Duoc is about 70 km from Saigon, while Ben Dinh tunnels are 46 km from Saigon only.
