Day 2:

Mekong Delta Excursion

Cai Be is a small town located by Mekong River's Lower branch. It used to be famous for its floating market. Nowadays it is getting smaller since rural transport has developed rapidly both on land and waterways. However, the town and its countryside still attract more tourists. It offers more activities to travellers: Sampan boat rowed along natural creeks, a pleasant bike ride through lush orchards, many ancient houses to visit, cottage industry to see, and local family business with small workshops.
Depart for Cai Be by air-conditioned private vehicle with a couple of hour drives on the freeways. On arriving at the dock, we board on the Princess Boat and cruise through the Cai Be floating market before going along the river. Enjoy tropical fruits, coconut milks. The boat turns on a small branch to the village where locals live mainly on cottage industries, handicraft villages, and small business belongs to local families. On the boat journey, enjoy scenic landscapes, quaint villages along the river banks. Visit one of the oldest houses with traditional Vietnamese design. Enjoy seasonal tropical fruits and meet friendly people in the villages. Have delicious lunch at a family-run small business. The boat will get back to its dock, and we return to Saigon by private air-conditioned car.

Day 3:

Cu Chi Tunnel – The “Holy Land” of Caodaism

Experience the historic site of the longest tunnels in Vietnam, built by Viet Cong. Discover the three levels of the fighting tunnels by visiting the most interesting Ben Duoc tunnels in Cu Chi Rural District. Located about 60 km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi's headquarter leads all the tunnels stretching to the Cambodia border and criss-cross the Saigon River. Viet Minh began to build this in 1948 when the French were here in Vietnam. Then Viet Cong made its extension until the War ended in 1975.

Depart at from Saigon City with an hour and a half to Ben Duoc, the most mysterious tunnels' headquarter. Watch a documentary film, then explore the famous fighting tunnels on foot, traps, bunkers, trenches and experience crawling a piece of the underground tunnels. There are plenty of remains of the War. See the weapon galleries, tanks, helicopters, artilleries..... Then we continue to travel by car to Tay Minh to see the noon pray at Cao Dai Temple. Caodaism is an almost new religious movement officially established in Tay Ninh in 1926. The religion is a combination of Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism, Confucianism, and Islam. Watching pilgrims pray is one of the major highlights. Most of the followers are in white with long dresses. The pope, cardinals, archbishops and priests are in colourful long dresses. Then we return to Saigon by car in the late afternoon.
